French Cotton Laces
We carry both Valencienne (Val or round thread) and Maline laces. French Leavers laces carry a point designation. Simply stated, the higher the point assignment of the lace, the finer the lace. Our Maline laces are 15 points and our Val laces are 12 and 14 points.
While antique laces were produced with 100% cotton thread, better quality control was attained the second half of the 20th century by the addition of 10% nylon. Hence today, all "cotton" laces are 90% cotton and 10% nylon.
Batiste is the ground fabric for the Swiss Embroideries that we carry. What a beautiful difference it makes having the trim and fabric weight match in the finished garment! The fine detail and clean finish is achieved by the use of a smaller embroidery thread and a greater stitch count.
There is a huge assortment of gorgeous, breathtaking lace available today - far too many for us to carry them all. If you are looking for a particular pattern or style number that is not on our site, please contact us at 519-774-5164 or firstname.lastname@example.org. We will be very happy to try and source it for you.
